General Motors Co. is spending $200 million to prepare two factories in metro Detroit for future vehicle programs.
GM says it will invest $160 million on tooling and equipment at its Orion assembly plant, which currently makes the Chevrolet Sonic minicar and Buick Verano small crossover.
The company also will spend $40 million on dies for its Pontiac Metal enter facility, which supplies stamped metal parts for 20 GM models.
