General Motors Co. has announced two recalls covering 524,000 vehicles built since 2009 to repair faulty hood latches and loose suspensions components. Most of the vehicles are in the U.S.
The larger campaign addresses 430,600 of the company's 2010-2015 model Cadillac SRX crossovers and 2011-2012 model Saab 9-4X crossovers. The vehicles may have loose rear suspension components that make them difficult to steer at highway speeds. Dealers will replace the rear toe link assembly if necessary.
GM also is recalling 93,800 of its 2013-2015 Chevrolet Spark minicars with defective secondary hood latches. If the latch corrodes and sticks, the hood could open unexpectedly when the car is moving.
The two new campaigns join a third announced earlier this week, bringing GM's total to a record 71 recalls affecting almost 30 million vehicles so far this year.
