She will fill the job while the company conducts a search for a permanent replacement for Bob Socia, who became president of GM China on Oct. 1. Brycz also served as interim purchasing czar for six weeks in 2009 when the company was seeking a successor to Bo Andersson.
Brycz will continue her current duties as executive director of purchasing for equipment and machinery, as well as goods not directly related to product, the company tells AN.
Brycz has held a series of purchasing jobs since joining GM's Cadillac unit in 1983, including a stint in 2010-2011 as executive director for electrical systems, batteries and hybrids.
