General Motors Co. and its joint venture partners retailed 229,200 vehicles in China last month, down from 238,700 units in July 2014.

The company attributes the 4% decline to model changeovers. It notes that demand for its more profitable SUVs and minivans doubled in July.

GM's retail deliveries through the first seven months of 2015 grew 3% to a record 1.95 million units.

During January-July, sales of Buick brand vehicles climbed 5% to a record 504,800 units. Chevrolet sales declined 3% to 353,000. Locally branded Baojun vehicle sales more than tripled to 187,100. Demand for Wuling mini-commercial vehicles fell 7% to 856,700 units.
