General Motors Co. is recalling another 46,900 cars because their ignition switches can be knocked out of the "run" position by the driver's knee.

The new campaign, announced on Saturday, covers 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 sport sedans and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice police cruisers. GM will issue owners a redesigned key designed to fix the problem.

GM announced two other smaller callbacks last weekend, bringing its total to five for the week and 74 for the year to date. The campaigns so far this year involve about 30 million vehicles worldwide.

The larger of the two new recalls will replace a fuel pump module that could overheat, leak and cause a fire in about 10,000 Cadillac CTS-V (2004-2007 model) and CTS-V (2005-2007 model) performance sedans.

GM also will fix a loose electrical connection in the steering column of 300 Chevrolet Sonic minicars that could affect steering wheel airbag deployment.

Late last week the company ordered U.S. dealers not to sell its just-introduced 2015 model Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickup trucks because of incorrectly wired driver airbags. The problem is expected to be solved this week with a software update to the system's sensing and diagnostic module.
