General Motors Co. is considering a $1.3 billion expansion for its SUV plant in Arlington, Tex., Reuters reports.

City documents indicate GM wants to add 1.2 million sq ft to the factory and hire nearly 600 more workers.

Arlington Assembly currently makes Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. The 60-year-old plant has produced 10 million cars and trucks to date.

Arlington's city council will hold a public hearing on GM's plan on April 14. Reuters says the city has proposed waiving building permit and development fees and slashing taxes 80% for a decade on the expanded plant.
