GM Plans $5.4 Billion Expansion in U.S.
General Motors Co. plans to spend $5.4 billion to upgrade its U.S. facilities over the next three years.
General Motors Co. plans to spend $5.4 billion to upgrade its U.S. facilities over the next three years. GM says the projects will create 650 new jobs.
Today the company announced the first three projects under the investment program: $784 million in retooling and updates to three production operations in Michigan.
GM will spend $520 million on production improvements and a new paint shop to prepare its Lansing Delta Township assembly plant for future vehicle programs.
The company also will invest $240 million to install a new body shop and stamping facility at its Warren assembly plant. Finally, it has earmarked $124 million for new test and validation equipment at its Pontiac Metal Center.
