General Motors Co. expects to spend $1.2 billion over the next several years to update operations at its Fort Wayne, Ind., pickup truck factory.
The upgrades, which will begin in June, include a new painting process, expanded body shop, a new materials sequencing facility and upgraded general assembly area. GM says the renovation won't affect plant output.
The Fort Wayne plant began making pickup trucks in 1986. It currently operates three shifts making light- and heavy-duty fullsize Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
