General Motors Co. proposes to expand its board of directors from 12 to 14 members. Shareholders will vote on the candidates at GM's annual meeting in Detroit on June 12.
The company has nominated Jim Mulva, 65, who will retire on May 1 as chairman and CEO of ConocoPhilips. He also sits on the board of General Electric. GM says it will benefit from Mulva's 39-year career in the energy industry.
The company's other candidate is Theodore "Tim" Solso, 65, who retired as chairman and CEO of Cummins in December. GM cites Solso's experience with emissions regulations as a diesel engineering and manufacturing executive.
