GM Names Cybersecurity Chief

General Motors Co. has installed Jeffrey Massimilla as its first cybersecurity chief. His mission will be to ensure that electronic systems aboard GM vehicles won't be hacked.

Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, tells reporters that Massimilla, a former infotainment engineering group manager with the company, began the assignment earlier this month.

Reuss says much of Massimilla's work will be directed toward security of vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems GM is developing. The company said earlier this month it would introduce its first V2V-capable car, the 2017 model Cadillac CTS sedan, in the U.S. two years from now.
