The fund set up to compensate victims of General Motors Co.'s defective ignition switches has only one minor-injury claim remaining to process.

Set up last August, the fund received 4,343 applications. The office has since rejected 3,944 claims and approved offers of compensation for 124 deaths and 274 injuries.

GM originally estimated 13 fatalities were caused by the switches, which can be jogged out of the "run" position, thus cutting off engine power and disabling the power steering, power brakes and airbags. GM knew about the defect for a decade before launching a recall of 1.6 million affected vehicles early last year.
