Last week the independent fund set up to compensate victims of defective General Motors Co. ignition switches increased its tally of fatalities by three to 117. The fund also added eight more injury claims, raising that group to 237.
The fund has ruled as ineligible two-thirds of the 4,342 submissions it received by the Jan. 31 cutoff. The group is actively reviewing 79 claims and awaiting more data on 1,035 others.
