GM Ignition-Switch Death Claims Rise to 97

Seven more compensation claims for deaths related to defective ignition switches have been approved by General Motors Co.'s special compensation fund, bringing the total to 97.

The fund also approved 16 more offers to people injured in crashes linked to the recalled GM switches, raising that total to 179. The independent fund continues to review 997 applications.
