The independent fund set up to compensate victims of defective General Motors Co. ignition switches approved three more death claims last week, bringing the total to 100.

The claims stem from GM's recall last year of 2.6 million vehicles equipped with ignition switches that can be jogged out of the "on" position by a bump in the road. GM initially estimated 13 fatalities were linked to the defect.

The fund also agreed last week to offer payments on three more injury claims. The fund has so far deemed 1,799 claims ineligible and is still reviewing 626 applications.
