The fund set up to offer compensation to victims of General Motors Co.'s defective ignition switches has raised the tally of approved claims to 124 deaths and 266 significant injuries.

The fund has completed its review of all 4,342 claims it received before the Jan. 31 cutoff. It continues to await further documentation to rule on the eligibility of 453 remaining and deficient applications, including 24 linked to a fatal crash.
