GM, Ford Move Up in Fortune 500

General Motors Co. ranks fifth among companies in the 2012 Fortune 500 list, up from eighth last year.

Ford Motor Co. advanced from 10th to ninth place. Companies are ranked by annual revenue.

Oil companies took three of the four top spots: Exxon Mobil (1) Chevron (3) and ConocoPhillips (4). Wal-Mart Stores ranked second.

Among auto suppliers, Johnson Controls (67) placed highest, followed by Goodyear (126), Cummins (150), TRW (161) and Navistar (193). Truckmaker Paccar ranked 159th.
