General Motors Co.’s Buick unit has advised U.S. dealers it will stop producing the Cascada midsize convertible this summer, Automotive News reports.

The $33,000 car is supplied by GM’s former Opel division, now owned by PSA Group. The car also is marketed under the Cascada name in Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. and as the Opel Cabrio in Spain.
PSA announced last October that it would phase out three Opel-built models, including the Cascada. The slow-selling car attracted only 17,000 buyers in the U.S. since its introduction in 2016. Sales last year plunged 26% to 4,100 units.
Buick insists the car—its first convertible in 25 years—was a successful “halo” model for Buick. The unit tells AN that 60% of Casada customers were captured from other brands.
