General Motors Co., which sold a record 3.16 million vehicles in China in 2013, reiterates that it expects this year's volume to total at least 3.4 million units.

GM's sales in the country climbed to 2.26 million in January-August, up 11% from the same period last year. The company surpassed Volkswagen AG as China's highest-volume carmaker in 2013.

GM China President Matt Tsien tells The Wall Street Journal earlier today that demand for Cadillac luxury models will top 70,000 units in 2014 compared with about 50,000 last year.
