Carlos Ghosn’s first trial on charges of financial wrongdoing at Nissan Motor Co. will probably start in March or April, sources tell The Nikki.

The timeframe was set during a pretrial hearing in Tokyo yesterday. The newspaper’s sources say a final date will be set after the court hears from prosecutors and Ghosn’s legal team.
The first trial is expected to focus on the first charges brought against Ghosn: underreporting 9 billion yen ($84 million) in compensation he was to receive upon retiring. The charges also apply to Nissan and to Greg Kelly, a former Nissan executive aide to Ghosn.
The Nikkei says attorneys for all three defendants are expected to present the court with a schedule of their defense arguments.
