Prosecutors in Germany are investigating at least three Audi AG employees on charges of falsifying certification documents for vehicles exported to South Korea.
The trio is suspected of doctoring test results, mileage readings and serial numbers to clear vehicles for shipment to Korea, according to the Suddeutsche Zeitung. An Audi manager in Korea was indicted on similar charges in 2016 and last year was imprisoned for 18 months.
The new probe was launched after prosecutors raided Audi facilities in Germany in March 2017, The Wall Street Journal reports. The search, which was part of a probe into Audi parent Volkswagen Group’s diesel emission cheating scandal, discovered a report about an internal investigation into the Korean cheating.
