Hyundai Motor Co. confirms it will discontinue the Genesis Coupe after the current model year and replace it with an all-new two-door that will be marketed under the recently launched Genesis luxury sub-brand, according to media reports.

The new car will be “more sophisticated and luxurious” than the outgoing model, company officials tell The Truth About Cars. Previous reports suggest the company also is developing a new high-performance coupe powered by a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6.

Hyundai launched the Genesis nameplate this year with the G90 full-size sedan and midsize G80. The brand plans to expand its lineup to six vehicles by early next decade. The coupe could bow as early as next year, followed by a compact sedan and a pair of crossover vehicles.
