Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co.’s China Euro Vehicle Technology AB (CEVT) subsidiary is providing engineering services to Terrafugia Inc., which was purchased by Geely last autumn, to help refine the flying car that Terrafugia is developing.

Under a new agreement, CEVT will help develop a gearbox and unspecified safety systems for Terrafugia. The company also will provide advanced computer-aided-engineering analysis for the program.

Terrafugia aims to launch a two-seat personal aircraft (the Transition) by the end of next year, followed by a vertical take-off and landing car by 2023. The startup was launched in 2006 by a group of graduate students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Sweden-based CEVT was established by Geely in 2013 as an engineering and development center for C-segment cars. Geely purchased Volvo in 2010.
