Ford Motor Co. is preparing to recall 45,600 Edge crossover vehicles to replace a fuel line component that could cause a fire.
The global campaign involves 2012-2013 model vehicles, mostly of them in the U.S. (27,800 units) and Asia Pacific (13,500). All are equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the metal housing around the vehicle's fuel line pulse damper was improperly manufactured. The housing could crack and cause a fuel leak that might result in a fire.
