MSX International Inc. has appointed Nick Reilly, who retired as president of General Motors Co.'s European unit last month, as chairman of its Asia-Pacific business, effective immediately.

Michigan-based MSX, which recruits and manages contract employees and advises dealers on efficiency, says Reilly will be "pivotal" in its plan to expand rapidly in Asia.

Reilly, a 37-year GM veteran, was CEO of the company's Adam Opel unit from late 2009 until January. He led the turnaround of GM Korea in the early 2000s and was named president of GM Asia Pacific in 2006. He was appointed president of the company's Shanghai-based international operations in mid-2009.

Reilly told Automotive News Europe in February that when he left GM he would move to Malaysia to work as a consultant for companies seeking to expand in Asia.
