Daimler AG has nominated Andrea Jung, the former CEO of New York City-based cosmetics marketer Avon Products Inc., to its supervisory board.
The selection is subject to shareholder approval at Daimler's annual meeting in April. Jung would be the third woman on the company's 20-member supervisory board.
She was CEO of Avon from 1999 through April 2012 and remained its chair until year-end. Jung previously worked at retailers Neiman Marcus, I. Magnin and Bloomingdale's. She currently serves on the boards of Apple and General Electric.
The German government has become increasingly insistent that domestic companies boost female representation in management and supervisory boards. Daimler has said it aims for a 20% female senior management team by 2020.
