Alan Mulally says he has not made plans to step down as CEO of Ford Motor Co. or given the company's board a retirement date, despite rumors he's leaving at the end of 2013.
Mulally, 67, tells "CBS This Morning" he doesn't expect to leave "any time soon."
"Please don't write me off yet," he jokingly begs reporters in New York City. Mulally ducks questions about a possible successor. But he asserts that Ford has its deepest pool of management talent ever.
The company's board of directors discussed succession planning at last week's meeting. News reports said the board would promote Americas President Mark Fields as chief operating officer to prepare him to succeed Mulally in January 2014.
