Ford Motor Co. says it will add 1,200 jobs at its factory in Kansas City, Mo., to help boost production of the family of all-new Transit commercial van made there.

The new employees are in addition to 2,800 workers hired in 2012 and 2013 to prepare for the Transit launch and to handle increased output of the F-150 pickup truck.

Ford notes that its latest expansion brings to 14,000 the number of jobs added in the U.S. since its 2011 contract talks with the United Auto Workers union. At the time, the company pledged to create 12,000 jobs by 2015.
