The United Auto Workers union and Ford Motor Co. have reached tentative agreement on a new four-year contract for Ford’s 52,900 hourly workers in the U.S.
The news comes as the UAW’s proposed agreement with General Motors Co. appears headed for ratification by a narrow margin.
The UAW describes the Ford deal as generally similar to the ones at GM and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles: a big signing bonus, raises for veteran workers and a mechanism that will bring wage parity for so-called tier-two workers over eight years.
Leaders from the union’s Ford locals will meet in Detroit on Monday to vote on whether to send the agreement to rank-and-file members for ratification.
