Ford Motor Co. is recalling 220,000 of its 2013-2014 model Kuga small crossovers in China to fix a problem that could cause a fuel line leak, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Ford says friction between the fuel line and handbrake cable could wear a hole in the line. If gasoline leaks out, a fire could result. Dealers will replace lines that show wear or install a protective shield to prevent damage.
Ford builds the Kuga in China through its Changan Ford Automobile Co. venture in Chongqing. Ford sold 96,700 Kugas in China in January-August, according to the Journal.
