Ford Motor Co. says it will spend $600 million to expand the annual capacity of its Chinese joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. by 350,000 vehicles by 2014.

Ford Motor Co. says it will spend $600 million to expand the annual capacity of its Chinese joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. by 350,000 vehicles by 2014.

The increase will bring Ford's capacity in China to 950,000 units per year. The company plans to add a new body shop, assembly line and paint shop at the venture's manufacturing complex in Chongqing in southwestern China.

Ford has previously announced plans to triple its vehicle lineup in China to 15 models over the next three years.
