Ford Motor Co. plans to begin assembling midsize Ranger pickup trucks in Ikeja, Nigeria, in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The carmaker is partnering with its local dealer group, Coscharis Motors Ltd., to assemble as many as 5,000 trucks per year from semi-knockdown kits supplied from South Africa. Output will be sold exclusively in Nigeria.

Ford markets the Ranger in 24 countries on the continent and 124 other countries. The pickup is this year's best-selling vehicle in South Africa, which supplies the vehicles worldwide.
