“Ford’s Garage,” a restaurant chain licensed by Ford Motor Co., plans to open a Michigan site near the carmaker’s Dearborn headquarters.
Following four stores in Florida, the 13,000-sq-ft Dearborn restaurant is due to open next spring on Michigan Ave. Ford signed a licensing agreement with the chain in 2014, two years after the first restaurant was launched in Fort Myers, Fla. There also are plans to expand to other Midwest locations.
The 200-seat Dearborn facility will include a restaurant, banquet room, coffee shop and gift store. The menu will feature a variety of sandwiches and more than 100 craft beers. A 10-lb Angus beef hamburger called the “Hub Cap” will be free for those who can eat in two hours or less, otherwise it costs $125.
The four existing restaurants are decorated with historic photos, memorabilia and old cars, including early Model Ts.
