Ford Teases Mystery Mustang

Ford Motor Co. showed a glimpse of an unidentified Mustang in a new commercial the company released this week at a dealer meeting in Las Vegas to tout future products.

The Mustang is briefly shown about halfway through the ad, which highlights several upcoming Ford models. The familiar Mustang pony badge is illuminated in electric blue in the center of a closed grille.

Ford plans to launch the next-generation Mustang in 2021. That vehicle will share a platform with the all-new Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs.

But media reports speculate that the mystery Mustang is a hybrid variant of the current model. Ford previously has said that it will introduce a hybrid Mustang in 2020.

A high-output Shelby GT500 Mustang also is on track for 2020. Photos of that vehicle were leaked online yesterday.
