Next month Ford Motor Co. intends to recall 140,300 Focus small cars in the U.S. to check for a missing seal that could cause the passenger side wiper motor to fail.
The campaign involves 2012 model cars built between Aug. 1, 2010, and Oct. 18, 2011.
Some of the affected cars may be missing a wiring harness connector seal. Without the seal, water and debris could collect in the connector and cause the passenger side wiper motor to work erratically or not at all, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Ford dealers will clean and seal the connector and/or replace the wiper motor as necessary.
