Ford Motor Co. is recalling 828,100 cars, SUVs, crossovers and vans to replace side door latches that could fail and allow the door to open when the vehicle is moving.

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 828,100 cars, SUVs, crossovers and vans to replace side door latches that could fail and allow the door to open when the vehicle is moving. More than 90% of the affected models are in the U.S.
The problem is spring tab that could break. In most cases, the failure would prevent the door from latching at all, according to Ford. But in some cases the door will close but not properly fastened. The recall covers:
- 2012-2015 model Ford Focus small cars
- 2013-2015 model Ford Escape small SUVs and C-Max MPVs
- 2014-2016 model Transit Connect vans
- 2015 model Ford Mustang
- 2015 model Lincoln MKC crossover vehicles
