Ford Motor Co. is recalling 518,300 of its 2015 model Edge small crossovers and 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans in Canada and the U.S. to replace steering system bolts that could corrode and crack.
The callback covers vehicles in Washington, D.C., America's 20 snowbelt states and seven Canadian provinces.
If the bolts break, the steering system's power assist could switch off, making the vehicle harder to turn. Dealers will replace and seal the bolts. Ford says vehicles located outside the recall area will be repaired under warranty if the problem develops.
