Ford Motor Co. is calling back more than 432,000 vehicles in North America to fix a software flaw that may allow the engine to run after the driver attempts to turn it off.
The recall covers 2015 model Focus sedans, C-Max MPVs and Escape crossover vehicles. More than 80% of affected vehicles are in the U.S. The campaign marks the 17th recall for the Escape since it was redesigned three years ago.
Ford blames the problem on errors in the software that commands the body control module. Dealers will update the software.
