Full-year deliveries by Changan Ford Automobile zoomed 7% to 836,400 cars, aided by a 49% hike in December to 97,000 units. Demand for the venture’s best-selling Mondeo midsize sedan gained 8% to 114,000 units. Ford’s array of five SUV/crossover models posted record combined sales of 274,200 units, up 13%, as December deliveries climbed to an any-month record 32,300 units.
Sales of commercial vehicles by the company’s Jiangling Motors Corp. venture dropped 6% to 253,400 last year. December sales fell 12% to 26,400 units. Ford blames continued weakness in China’s commercial vehicle sector.
