Ford Issues Third Recall for 2013 Escape
Ford Motor Co. is recalling 7,600 of its 2013 Escape crossover vehicles in the U.S. and Canada because of a potential engine compartment fire hazard.
Ford Motor Co. is recalling 7,600 of its 2013 Escape crossover vehicles in the U.S. and Canada because of a potential engine compartment fire hazard.
The problem is an improperly installed engine block plug in 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engines produced in the U.K. The so-called cup plug could come loose and allow engine coolant to leak onto hot engine components and possibly ignite.
The recall involves models assembled between October 2011 and the end of August. Ford ordered the campaign after one report of an Escape catching fire on a dealer lot.
Two earlier recalls for the 2013 model this year were to reposition carpet padding that could interfere with braking and to replace a defective fuel line that could leak and cause a fire.
