Ford GT Named Top Concept Car of 2015

Ford Motor Co.'s GT supercar was named the Most Significant Concept Car of 2015 and Production Preview Concept of the year by a panel of 30 automotive journalists. The awards were announced earlier this week at the Concours d' Elegance of America show held in Plymouth, Mich.

Ford unveiled the GT concept car at the Detroit auto show in January. Production is due to begin next year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original GT40's 1-2-3 finish in the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

The Mercedes-Benz F 015 self-driving car was named this year's Concept Car of the Year. The top truck concept was Hyundai's Santa Cruz pickup.
