Ford Motor Co. has expanded its time-off policy for U.S. salaried employees who become new parents.
The benefits, which took effect on Nov. 1, give new fathers as many as eight weeks of paid time off, according to Automotive News. Ford previously offered fathers two weeks of time off.
New mothers are now able to take as many as 16 weeks of paid time off within 12 months of the birth. The previous maximum leave was 10 weeks.
Ford’s new policy also allows a new parent to transition back to the work world by collecting fulltime pay while working part time for four weeks after his or her leave expires.
