Ford Motor Co. is expanding the availability of its factory-installed LED strobe light warning kit, which was launched on the 2016 F-Series Super Duty truck, to all 2017 F-150 models purchased by fleet buyers.
The strobe kit is designed for use by utility, road construction and municipal crews. Ford says the front- and rear-mounted amber lens lights can be seen from as far away as 1,000 ft during the day and one mile at night.
The forward-facing lights are mounted at the upper rear edge of the hood, while the rear signals are positioned on either side of the center high-mounted stop light to provide 180° of illumination. Customers can program the flash pattern to meet specific requirements.
Ford says the weather-resistant LEDs aren’t susceptible to corrosion and were designed to work with the F-150’s aluminum body.
