Ford Motor Co. has named Joginder Singh to become president and managing director of its India unit on Dec. 1.

Ford Motor Co. has named Joginder Singh to become president and managing director of its India unit on Dec. 1. He has headed Ford's Chennai, India-based global business services unit since October 2008.

Singh will succeed Michael Boneham, who is retiring after 27 years at the automaker. Boneham has led Ford India since mid-2008.

In his new job, Singh will lead Ford's expansion in India, which includes launching eight new vehicles by mid-decade and opening an assembly plant in Sanand in the western state of Gujarat. He will report to Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa.
