Trim and assemblies supplier Flex-N-Gate Corp. expects to invest at least $90 million to build a parts plant in central Detroit. The facility will supply parts to Ford Motor Co.
Flex-N-Gate will erect the factory on a 30-acre site within the 189-acre I-94 Industrial Park. The complex is being developed by Detroit’s economic development agency, the state of Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
The park is located about two miles from downtown Detroit at the intersection of the I-75 and I-94 expressways. The site is near the headquarters of American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. and encompasses a former AAM park with the same name.
Another company, LINC Logistics Co., opened a $30 million, 500,000 sq-ft distribution terminal there earlier this year. Last December Lear Corp. said it was considering plans to build a factory on the site.
