Ford Motor Co. is again recalling about 37,000 of its 2005-2011 model Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars to remedy the same steering system defect.

The company recalled those cars in U.S. "snow belt" states last year to repair the lower intermediate steering shaft. Ford said the shaft could corrode, seize and cause a loss of steering.

But the repairs may not have been done correctly. The new recall will check the condition of the upper intermediate steering shaft.
