Henrik Fisker has abandoned the Thunderbolt, a cosmetically modified Aston Martin V12 Vanquish sport coupe, to settle an intellectual property infringement lawsuit filed late last month by Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd.
Fisker, a former design director at Aston Martin, unveiled a prototype of the Thunderbolt in March at the Amelia Island Concours d' Elegance. His aim was to sell small numbers of the cars at $400,000 each.
Fisker launched Fisker Automotive Inc. in 2007 to produce the Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sport sedan. The company collapsed in 2013 after selling about 2,500 cars and was acquired in early 2014 by China-based auto parts company Wanxiang America Corp.
