Dany Bahar, who was ousted as CEO of Group Lotus in June, has sued the British sports car maker and its Malaysian parent DRB-Hicom Bhd for wrongful dismissal. He seeks 6.7 million (€8.5 million) in damages.

The U.K. lawsuit was disclosed by DRB in a filing with securities regulators in Kuala Lumpur. Lotus and DRB say they will "vigorously" defend themselves against the claim and will countersue.

DRB says it acted properly in dismissing Bahar after an investigation of his "stewardship of Lotus." The company offered no further details. Bahar was fired after an audit of his expenses and Lotus operations and finances.
