Finnish electric utility Fortum Corp. has formed a strategic partnership with Hungary’s state-owned NKM National Utilities Ltd. to install 100 electric vehicle charging stations across the latter country this year.
Fortum’s Charge & Drive unit will provide its cloud-based software to administer and operate the network. NKM plans to erect the stations at conventional fueling stations and at hotels, parking garages and retail complexes.
The partners say there are about 1,000 EVs in Hungary today. The country’s existing charging stations are concentrated in Budapest and along the highway between that capital city and Vienna.
