A panel of 49 automotive journalists has selected the six finalists for the 2013 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards.

A panel of 49 automotive journalists has selected the six finalists for the 2013 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards.

Winners will be announced on Jan. 14 before of the Detroit auto show. The finalists were revealed at a meeting of the Automotive Press Assn. in Detroit on Wednesday.

Contending for the best-car award are the Cadillac ATS, Ford Fusion and Honda Accord sedans. Finalists for the best-truck honor are the Ford C-Max, Mazda CX-5 and Ram 1500.

The six vehicles were chosen from a list of 11 car and nine truck nominees that had been redesigned or significantly updated in 2012.

This year's winners, which were announced at the Detroit auto show last January, were the Hyundai Elantra sedan and Land Rover Range Rover Evoque crossover. The awards were launched in 1994.
