Ferrari describes the open-top models as having the “closest and purest” driving experience to that of a Formula One race car. Power will come from the 812 Superfast’s 6.5-liter V-12, which is tuned to produce 810 hp—the most ever for a Ferrari—in the new Monza models.
Mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the engine propels the cars from zero to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and to 124 mph in 7.9 seconds. Top speed is listed at 186 mph.
The rear-wheel-drive cars feature an aluminum chassis and carbon fiber body to hold vehicle weight to about 3,300 lbs. Their retro-styling is inspired by previous Ferrari models, including the 1948-era 166 MM Barchetta and 1950s 750 Monza.
The cars also feature all-wheel steering and upward-opening doors. A “virtual windshield” behind the instrument panel is designed to push air flow above the driver and passenger.
Combined production will be limited to 500 units, all of which have been pre-sold for well above $1 million each.
